Holding The Mother

‘Everyone wants to hold the baby, but who will hold the mother?’ -Jabina Coleman

As a mother, it can feel like you need to have it all together - all the time, for everyone else. You’re constantly giving, holding space for your children’s big feelings, carrying the mental load for your family, and running the household. It’s exhausting, both physically and emotionally. And sometimes, it feels like there’s nowhere to turn for the support you truly need.

Holding The Mother is that safe space. A place where you can be seen, heard, and held. A space to untangle the motherwhelm, process your feelings, and debrief challenging periods of your postnatal journey.

Holding The Mother is for you if:

You feel stuck in some part of your motherhood or matrescence journey and want a safe, non-judgmental space to talk.

  • You struggled (or are struggling) with the transition into motherhood, juggling responsibilities, or finding support.

  • You feel overwhelmed and unsure where to start in order to feel better.

  • You want to debrief a difficult postnatal experience, such as:

    • Challenging or disappointing breastfeeding journeys

    • Difficult or traumatic NICU experiences

    • Lack of support during your early months

    • Sleep deprivation from a baby who struggles to sleep

    • Emotional impact of infant allergies or other health challenges

Motherhood is hard. Matrescence is hard. You deserve space to talk about it — and be truly heard.

Holding the Mother + EMDR Package

Some experiences stay with us long after they’re over. Flashbacks, nightmares, waves of anxiety, or a sense of dread can linger, affecting your daily life. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a gentle, evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain process these distressing memories so they no longer hold the same emotional power.

This package is ideal if you’re dealing with the symptoms of trauma rather than the event itself. It’s not talk therapy — we don’t rehash the problem endlessly. Instead, EMDR helps get to the root of your distress and works toward resolving your symptoms, so you can move forward with more peace and confidence.

How the EMDR Package Works

Step 1: Debrief / Story Session (90 minutes)
We begin by exploring your experience in a safe, supportive space. This session allows you to be heard, unpack and make sense of what happened.

Step 2: EMDR Setup Session (90 minutes)
We take a history, build coping resources, and prepare your mind and body for processing. This ensures you feel safe, resourced, and ready to begin EMDR.

Step 3 & 4: EMDR Processing Sessions (90 minutes each)
We work directly with the memories causing ongoing distress - the flashbacks, nightmares, or anxiety, so they lose their emotional intensity. You’ll notice relief and a sense of lightness as memories are processed safely.

Step 5: Integration Session (30 minutes)
A follow-up to review progress, consolidate shifts, and discuss ongoing strategies for coping and thriving.

Additional EMDR sessions can be added at $80 each if needed (introductory price).

This package is available as home visits for the Perth metro area, except for the 30 minute integration session which is online.

Is EMDR right for me?

EMDR is most effective if you’re experiencing lingering trauma symptoms:

  • Flashbacks or intrusive memories

  • Nightmares

  • Waves of anxiety or dread

  • Feeling “stuck” emotionally or mentally

It’s about addressing the fallout of trauma or difficult events so you can regain control over your thoughts, feelings, and daily life.
